Bouldering is a dynamic style of climbing that sets you free from ropes and harnesses. The only equipment you need in bouldering is a pair of climbing shoes and chalk to help keep your hands dry.
Yes! Bouldering is a great workout. The bouldering at Up The Bloc is specifically designed to provide you with a great physical and mental workout. While one problem might require power and strength, another might require delicate and precise movement to reach the top.
In addition to a great workout, climbing is a lot of fun. Climbing is a social activity that has a supportive and vibrant community. Climbers often chat and cheer for each other as they climb to the top.
New climbers often find themselves addicted to the sport after one session so it’s not a surprise that the sport is rapidly growing. The main reason for the exponential growth of the sport is its accessibility. Anyone can start bouldering with minimal instruction and equipment.
Taking a fall is a normal part of bouldering. Our climbing walls are designed to ensure your feet are never more than 10 feet off of the ground. The seamless floor padding provides a landing zone on thick, comfortable mats.
You don’t need a lesson to start climbing. Up The Bloc welcomes all drop-ins without prior appointments. However, we do recommend that large groups call ahead. By calling ahead, we can prepare to get you setup and climbing right away.
